STEP 5: GETTING OFF THE
DRAWING BOARD
The work of Igniting Ministry should be a way of life for an entire
congregation, not a task of a committee or a lone individual. Remember, we are
trying to create a lifestyle.
An Igniting Ministry team, including a welcoming coordinator and a media
coordinator, carries out the church's welcoming, inviting and discipling
functions. The team actively trains congregation members, involves people and
plans how to create a media identity. More information on building a team is
included in the Planning Kit.
STEP 6: GETTING UNSTUCK,
SEVERAL TIMES
Increasing welcoming and hospitality skills may require a shift in thinking,
attitudinal change and learning how to speak to newcomers so they want to
listen. Launching a media effort may require a larger-than-expected financial
commitment. Creating a discipleship system that includes newcomers requires
work but will result in enabling people to make a connection with God.
STEP 7: GETTING THE COMPANION
PIECES
Put the 'Open Hearts' slogan everywhere! Create visibility
in your church, around your office and within your
community to raise positive awareness. Share the message
of open hearts, open minds, open doors beyond your
church walls with logo products, many customizable
with your church's name. Mugs, caps, T-shirts, welcome
mats, banners and more are available from the online
Product Store.
